EHS Receives Redbud

The Edmond History museum received an award for its Web site, which links the history of the city with the modern technology of the Internet.  EHS received a Redbud Award from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association Oct. 14.

Lt. Governor Mary Fallin, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Jane Jayroe, and Chair of OTIA Tina Gilliland presented the Redbud Awards for excellence in tourism at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Oklahoma City. The awards are the highest honor given for tourism in the state. They recognize the outstanding works of businesses, organizations and individuals that help promote and develop tourism within Oklahoma.

The web site earned the Redbud Award for Best Web Site for an organization with a total marketing budget of less than $25,000.

EHS Named Outstanding Local Historical Society/Museum for 2002

The Edmond History Museum received the Outstanding Local Historical Society/Museum in Oklahoma 2002 Award during the Oklahoma Historical Society’s Annual Awards Banquet held April 25th at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Guthrie. The Oklahoma Historical Society recognized and presented the Edmond History Museum with a plaque during the banquet. The Edmond History Museum strives to provide educational programming and a first-rate museum for the community of Edmond. We are very honored and pleased to be a recipient of this wonderful award.

The Oklahoma Museums Association announced the winners of its 2004 Annual Awards Program. The awards recognize outstanding achievement by museums and individuals throughout the state during the past year. Award categories include exhibitions, publication, and education programs. The competition is divided into four budget categories. In addition, certificates of recognition honor the contributions of an individual, group, or business to Oklahoma museums or a specific museum or community.

The Edmond History Museum won two awards from the Oklahoma Museums Association:

  • Outstanding Promotional Piece Edmond History Museum “Historical Edmond Walking Tour” brochure ($100,000 – $499,999 budget category)
  • Outstanding Publication Edmond History Museum “Edmond Chronicles” ($100,000 – $499,999 budget category)

The Edmond History Museum was honored at a luncheon on September 24th at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Edmond. The luncheon was part of the Association’s annual statewide conference.

With more than 400 members, the Oklahoma Museums Association supports Oklahoma museums in their efforts to educate, inform and entertain. OMA is headquartered at the Kirkpatrick Science and Air Space Museum at Omniplex in Oklahoma City.
