Heritage Award Nominations

The Edmond History Museum is accepting nominations for the 2025 Edmond Heritage Awards. Since 1988, nearly 200 individuals and organizations have been awarded to individuals and organizations for their commitment to Edmond’s history.

Categories are: Preservation of Historic Sites, Historic Arts (to include literary film, music, art or cultural projects), Community Service, and Role of Honor. An award may be given posthumously. Further category details below.

Nominators may be contacted for further information and/or photographs. Nominees who are selected by the Museum Board Heritage Awards Committee will be invited to attend a ceremony in late August (date TBD). All decisions are final.

Categories Details: 

Preservation of Historic Sites – the restoration of buildings or sites in Edmond. Nominee must have contributed time, energy and resources toward the preservation of an historically significant site within Edmond city limits. Nominee may or may not be a current resident of Edmond, OK. Include a brief description of the completed preservation project, building or site.

Historic Arts – creation of a literary, film, music, art or cultural project about the history of Edmond. Nominee must have portrayed the historic development of Edmond, OK through literature or artistic means. Nominee may or may not be a current resident of the city of Edmond, OK. Required supporting materials include a copy of publication, film, video, audiotape, photographs of, copy of, or actual artwork, etc; all submitted materials must be labeled with title and name; include a brief description of work being nominated; any originals will be returned.

Community Service – honors individuals who have helped preserve Edmond history through outstanding community service. Nominee must have lived or been located in Edmond, OK and must have made a contributing impact on the community through outstanding community service in the area of historical or cultural preservation. Award may be given posthumously. Required supporting materials include a brief description of why this person, organization or company should receive award; mention most successful accomplishments that have furthered preservation of Edmond quality of life. 

Roll of Honor – recognizes individuals or groups who have contributed substantial, multiple volunteer or supportive endeavors that provide lasting benefits for the entire Edmond community.
