Bulldog Spirit: Edmond’s First High School

Bulldog Spirit!: Edmond’s First High School beginning May 22 through September 2023. The exhibit covers the history of the school, dating back to 1917, when it began with a few 9th grade students, to its growth as the current-day Edmond Memorial High School.

History:

Prior to 1917, no students in Edmond moved higher than the 9th grade. The first building opened on Boulevard, between Main & Hurd (current location of Russell Doughtery Elementary), and by 1922, twenty-four students made up the first graduating class.

The exhibit covers the school’s growth, location changes, and student activities, ranging from orchestra to athletics. Artifact highlights include an EHS letter jacket and cheer uniform, a bulldog mascot head and megaphone, spirit pins and graduation items, plus a wealth of photographs.
