Internships

The Edmond History Museum & Museum is pleased to offer internships in the collections and education departments. Internships are generally for one semester, require a commitment of a minimum of 10 hours per week, and can be adjusted to accommodate student course requirements in most cases.

Collections Internships

The Edmond History Museum & Museum is currently looking for an intern who wishes to gain experience in collection care and collection management.  Working under the direction of the Curator of Collections the intern will gain experience in a number of the following areas:

  • Working in the collection management database to update records for collection artifacts.
  • Retrieval and return of collection items for exhibition, research, or curatorial requests.
  • Care of collections in storage and on exhibit.
  • Exhibition planning and research.
  • Processing large donations.
  • Assisting with research requests.

The collections intern is an unpaid position that requires a minimum commitment of ten (10) hours per week.  Attention to detail and proficiency with computers a must, familiarity with Past Perfect a plus.  Priority consideration will be given to students who are looking to fulfill internship requirements in museum studies or similar programs.   Potential interns are responsible for consulting with their academic advisors to insure they meet the requirements to receive credit for their internship.  Edmond History Museum & Museum will provide intern feedback and internship evaluations as needed to fulfill credit requirements.  There is one internship position available per semester.

Education Internships

The Edmond History Museum & Museum is currently looking for an intern who wishes to gain experience in museum education.  Working under the direction of the Program Director the intern will gain experience in a number of the following areas:

  • Developing museum gallery tours for all ages
  • Assisting in gallery tours
  • Creating gallery guides for ongoing and temporary exhibits
  • Educational program planning and research
  • Content development for Making History Crafts: Summer at the Museum.
  • Content development for Gallery Adventurers, a preschool program at the museum.
  • Social Media content creation

The education intern is an unpaid position that requires a minimum commitment of ten (10) hours per week.  Attention to detail and proficiency with computers is a must, access to a vehicle is preferred.  Priority consideration will be given to students who are looking to fulfill internship requirements in museum studies or similar programs.   Potential interns are responsible for consulting with their academic advisors to insure they meet the requirements to receive credit for their internship.  Edmond History Museum & Museum will provide intern feedback and internship evaluations as needed to fulfill credit requirements.  There is one internship position available per semester.
