The Edmond History Museum & Museum is now reopen!

Edmond History Museum & Museum: Celebrating Edmond History Through Preservation and Education.

Beginning Tuesday June 30th, masks will be required for all visitors over the age of 5. Masks may be removed once in the Children’s Learning Center. Give us a call at 340-0078 to book your visit to the children’s area.

 

Step through the front door of the Edmond History Museum & Museum and you immediately enter the community’s history.

Our Story

Our exhibits tell ever-changing stories as Edmond community continues to flourish and its citizens come shining to the forefront. We also acknowledge our roots, highlighting the history of the prairie and Native People before statehood. With the coming of the railroad in 1886 and the Land Run of 1889, Edmond began to grow from a one-family train stop into the thriving city it is now. Edmond boasted the first schoolhouse and the first church in the Oklahoma Territory; a testament to the education and religion that influences Edmond still. Although agriculture was Edmond’s financial foundation, all facets of industry, technology and commerce are now represented. Edmond maintains its small-town feel, enriched by a strong presence of the arts—and EHS&M celebrates Edmond’s rich culture!  

Our Services

In addition to interesting exhibits about the people and places of Edmond, the museum offers a Research Library & Genealogical Center, and a Children’s Learning Center—all at no charge. Keep your eye open for our entertaining programs and classes, as well. Groups visiting the museum with 10 or more visitors should call or email ahead to schedule their visit. Our Building

The museum is housed in the former armory of the 179th Infantry, 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard. The historic, native sandstone building was built in 1936 by the WPA and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
