Let Me Show You My Quilt!

February 24 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

“Let Me Show You My Quilt!” is a social event on Saturday, February 24 from 11-12:30 pm for quilters, hobbyists or anyone who has inherited a great quilt that they would like to show and tell.

The 1.5-hour program will highlight the museum’s quilt exhibit and allow time for each attendee to briefly share one or two quilts of choice. Quilts can be used, beautiful, not beautiful, or even incomplete. No expertise is needed.

The event is free, but RSVP is required. A suggested $5 donation is appreciated. RSVP HERE. The program is at the Edmond History Museum, 431 S. Boulevard in Edmond, and hosted in partnership with the UCO Inclusive Community-Hometown Edmond Program

Quilt Exhibit

The program is themed around the Edmond’s Social Fabric exhibit, which runs through the end of February 2024. The exhibit displays 17 meaningful quilts made throughout Edmond’s history, dating from 1890 to 2021. The exhibit was sponsored by the Edmond Women’s Club.

Whether beautiful and just functional, each quilt conveys a story of life in Edmond. Some are purposefully stitched by a single woman, but many were stitched collectively by friends, students, or members of an organization. Many of the quilts relay a cause, tell a personal story or document a moment in history, such as the Land Run.

Museum Information: Edmond History Museum hours are 10:00-5:00 Tuesday – Friday, and 1:00-4:00 Saturday. Please visit the museum website at www.edmondhistory.org or by calling the museum at 405-340-0078 to learn more.
